About the Role
The candidate will be responsible for fostering a love of literature and developing language arts skills for students in grade 7. The candidate will guide students toward being critical readers, effective writers, and skilled speakers.Â
Requirements
Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field AND
Possess a single-subject teaching credential in English OR a Master’s Degree.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Â
Demonstrates an understanding and implementation of ELA Common Core State Standards
Has a familiarity with a wide range of literary genres, authors, and texts suitable for middle school learners
Possesses a deep understanding of English Language Arts curriculum, literature analysis, grammar, and writing conventions
Demonstrates knowledge of a variety of effective teaching methods, instructional strategies, and assessment techniques for middle school students
Is skilled in maintaining a positive, organized, and inclusive classroom environment
Understands how to integrate technology to enhance instruction in meaningful ways
Monitors students’ academic progress and provides effective feedback on work
Conducts formative and summative assessments of students
Implements accommodations and modifications in collaboration with the resource specialistÂ
Participates and is a contributing member of the St. Michael’s Middle School teamÂ
Actively participates in professional development opportunities and collaborates with the administration and colleaguesÂ
Communicates with families and parents regarding academic progressÂ
Maintains accurate and complete records of students' attendance, progress, and development
