St. Michael's School receives a Laudato Si' MicroGrant

**San Diego, CA** – St. Michael’s School has recently receives a $1,200 grant from the Diocese of San Diego Creation Care Ministry, which focuses on promoting environmental care in local parishes and schools.

The grant will help repair the Mary’s Garden beds at the North Campus and purchase native and butterfly-friendly plants. It will also provide students with additional watering cans.

In a hands-on project, alumni from Cathedral Catholic High School worked with Kindergarten students to plant the new flowers in the garden. They taught the kids about composting using banana peels, eggshells, and wiggler worms.

CCHS students explained to the kindergarteners how planting flowers that attract butterflies and bees supports our environment.

The results are already visible, with many monarch caterpillars now feeding on the milkweed in the garden. This project shows St. Michael’s commitment to fostering a love for nature and encouraging students to care for the environment.
